Ingredients
  

  • boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)
  • elbow macaroni
  • sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • whole milk
  • unsalted butter
  •  all-purpose flour
  • garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Season chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and cook chicken until golden brown (5-7 minutes per side), ensuring it's cooked through.
  • In a separate pot, boil salted water and cook macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In the same skillet used for chicken, melt remaining butter. Whisk in flour until smooth; gradually add milk while whisking until thickened (about 2 minutes). Stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Combine cooked chicken, macaroni, and cheese sauce in a large bowl; mix well. Transfer to the prepared baking dish, top with additional cheddar if desired, and bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.
