Description

This classic Thanksgiving Cornbread Dressing is savory, buttery, and full of Southern flavor. Made with crumbled cornbread, fresh herbs, celery, onions, and rich broth, it’s the perfect holiday side dish or comforting addition to any meal.

Ingredients
  

  • crumbled cornbread homemade or store-bought
  •  white or wheat bread cubed
  • sleeve saltine crackers crushed (optional, for texture)
  • stick unsalted butter
  • onion finely chopped
  • stalks celery finely chopped
  • poultry seasoning
  • dried sage or more, to taste
  • black pepper
  •  salt
  • chicken or turkey broth plus more as needed
  •  eggs beaten

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Preheat And PrepPreheat oven to 375°F (190°C).Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Step 2: Sauté VegetablesIn a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.Add onions and celery; sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  • Step 3: Mix the DressingIn a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, bread cubes, and crushed saltine crackers.Stir in poultry seasoning, sage, black pepper, and salt.Add the sautéed vegetables (with butter) and mix well.Pour in the chicken broth gradually until the mixture is moist but not soggy.Stir in the beaten eggs and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Step 4: BakePour the mixture into the greased baking dish and spread evenly.Bake for 35-45 minutes, until golden brown and set in the middle.
